Living Christ is a member of the Hanover Park community and tries to reach out to its neighbors in many ways.  Our Kids Club program  is one of these outreach programs.  Pastor Jennie is the Hanover Park Fire Dept. Chaplain which allows us to reach more people in need.  Whenever one of our neighbors has a personal crisis we try to help as possible. 

We are currently working with DuCap together with village leaders in a cooperative effort of finding solutions for our neighborhood's youth problems.  In this effort, the Hanover Park Community Resource Coalition was formed.  We now host the HPCRC Resource Center each Saturday from 10 - 1.  It currently offers a computer lab, ESL classes, library, music classes and counseling services.  It also sponsors a social event every month for community families such as Bingo, Movie night, or ice cream socials.  There are plans to expand during the summer months to include Wednesday nights with an adult class such as budgeting assistance, identity theft, etc. and a children's activity.   

We also share our building space with other community organizations.  For example, we're a polling place for DuPage county elections, Sierra Blanca Association has their monthly meeting and the boy scouts meet here.

Another way that we try to help our community is the Adopt-a-Highway program.  Living Christ is responsible for cleaning up a section of Greenbrook Blvd. between Lake Street and the village boundary, one block west of County Farm Road.  Volunteer road crews work together four Saturdays during the warm season to accomplish this task. 

A Community Outreach Bible Study effort in coordination with Living Faith Worship Cathedral Center will be held every Wednesday at Living Christ.  The two congregations will co-facilitate the Mid Day Gospel Cafe.  Outreach efforts into our surrounding neighborhood will also be a joint effort. 

This summer we will be hosting a Neighborhood Fest in our parking lot.  We've invited our close mission affiliate churches - the Salvation Army Hanover Park Outpost, Living Faith Cathedral Worship Center, and the Polish National Catholic Church to join us in planning this big event.  Our goal is to bring together the neighborhood for a free, family day of wholesome fun.  Other organizations and local businesses will be invited and can each bring their own promotional materials provided everything offered is FREE.  There will be games, prizes, exhibits, health screenings, food, etc.
